BUZZCUT at the cca (saramago protests)

We have an important update regarding the BUZZCUT Programme at the CCA on Friday 31st and the BUZZCUT Bday Party on Saturday 1st.

There are ongoing protests against Saramago (the independent bar & restaurant in the CCA), relating to their recent dismissal of staff.  BUZZCUT supports the protests and encourages our audience not to frequent Saramago during our events.

Saramago is a business tenant within the CCA, owned and managed separately from the venue. We have therefore made the decision to continue with our CCA programme, to allow the artists who have travelled near and far to present their amazing projects which they have been working on for months.

Drinks purchased at Saramago will not be permitted upstairs to the performance spaces and we will have a flavoured water bar upstairs for our audience members (the best water bar you've ever seen! With mint, orange, pomegranate, basil, rosemary, lemon, lime cucumber...!). We can also provide recommendations of other nearby bars if you would like a drink in-between shows.

There is currently a planned demonstration outside the CCA on Friday 31st between 17:30 - 19:30. We will have a BUZZCUT member of staff just inside the door to answer any questions and be available if you need any assistance on entry.

With the Saramago bar not in use, there is a health & safety risk of overcrowding, as the bar takes up a significant portion of the building.

We have therefore made the difficult decision to individually ticket each CCA project on Friday 31st (except Lulu Oberymayer which is durational).

We have put 50% of the tickets on sale now and are sending these closed links round to those who have pre-registered. We will release the remaining 50% of tickets for general sale & post on social media later today.

There are also some changes to the programme on Friday 31st

  • Rose Priest - Conversations in Clay will no longer be taking place as it was due to present in the bar, we will work with Rosie to find an alternative context for their work in future.

  • Tink Flaherty - Benched has moved to 16:00 - 17:00 on Friday 31st

Any ticket purchased at the CCA should be bought on the understanding that it may be cancelled last minute if the situation escalates.

The programme at Tramway on Thursday 30th & Saturday 1st (daytime) will remain unticketed and will proceed as planned.

The Party at CCA on Saturday 1st will go ahead, and remain separately ticketed (it currently sold out but we're hoping to release a few more tickets).

Thank you for your patience with us as we navigate this challenging situation and we are looking forward to seeing you at the Festival.
